Assessing for Examination Accommodations, Concessions and Access Arrangements

In this 5-hour online interactive workshop, we explore the necessity for examination concessions and accommodations as indicated in the Policy of Inclusion in South Africa: White Paper 6 (SIAS). We look at the purpose of the psycho-educational assessments, processes involved and approval decision-making processes. Relatedly, we consider the types of assessment measures and a review of current policies of the most popular examination boards, including tertiary institutions and professional boards. Ethical decision-making processes related to selection of instruments, triangulating results to make recommendations for specific concessions and accommodations, and report-writing are also discussed. During our workshop we will review various case studies for practical application of the information. I also share information learned from 12 years of experience in this area, and from my current role on a panel reviewing examination concessions and accommodations applications.

In addition to the live training workshop, you will have access to a downloadable training manual, the most recent available policies (as referred to in the training) and a recording of the training video.

This training is suitable for Psychologists, Psychometrists, Registered Counsellors, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, Neurologists and other specialists involved in application processes for examination accommodations and concessions.
