At one time or another, most children experience anxiety, whether this is a fear of being separated from a parent or loved one, being scared to go to school, or refusing to speak in front of the class. As parents, we may notice when our child refuses to do things alone, or wants the lights on at bedtime. It can be difficult to support a child in this state, especially when there are other things that need to be done, like managing a class or getting things organised in the home. So what can we do to help them? What is useful, and what is not helpful for children in this emotional state? What do we need to know to empower ourselves and our children in learning to manage their own emotions?
In this 1 ½ -hour online on-demand training we will look at anxiety in children, different types of anxiety, commonly co-occurring conditions and causes of anxiety. We will also look at how to screen for anxiety, working positively with children with anxiety and harnessing the strengths that often come with anxiety. We will also explore some case studies.
Downloadable resources include proven strategies to help the child manage their own emotions and access to the recording for watching (and re-watching).
